It’s the enterprising, creative minds of this world who provide the most exquisite examples of solidarity when adversity confronts us as a people. I’m loving these illuminated messages of hope projected on the side of the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

The amazing Paul Weller has name checked us in this month’s Mojo mag as one of his favourite bands of 2012! Gobsmacked!
Paul Weller’s has never lead me astray with his recommendations, lads! wow! you’re like a walking(singing/strumming/drumming/otherwise wailing) flashback. Can hardly believe that music is comin’ outta yah. Come to the U.S. east coast to play some gigs soon. Plenty of TV presenters would have you for certain as well.
Absolutely loving this video of a gay teen coming out to his entire high school while accepting his “class actor” award. I remember in high school, my best friend David was gay and while he never pretended to be straight - he didn’t tell anyone that he loved men until his junior year.
The faculty at our high school did not allow him to go to his prom senior year with a guy. It seems devastating to think that he had to ask permission. This guy he wanted to attend with wasn’t even his boyfriend, it was his male best friend who also was gay. Even though I was already a freshman in college, I went with him to his senior prom for “fun.” Not sure how fun it was for someone to feel that they were only let into an event because of the gender of their date.
I love that this kid’s father proudly posted this on Facebook and I think that we should continue to loudly accept every single person who comes out as who they are. We, who do “socially acceptable” things like be straight, get to do so without thinking. And when we loudly praise someone for announcing that they are going to be who they are - we acknowledge our privilege and use it for good.
Among the millions of blogs on Tumblr, only a small number are contributors of original content: “the world’s creators”
And if you’ve ever looked at Tumblr’s Explore Page you might notice that Photography is oddly absent.
There’s #design, #art, #architecture and even #artists on tumblr — but no mention of anything related to the art of taking pictures with a camera. Even #film is a trap — it’s for movies, not analog photography!
We don’t think this situation is acceptable. So let’s Fight it.
We’d like to ask all original photographers on Tumblr to start putting the #photographers on tumblr tag on every single photo you post.
Photographers deserve more recognition among the Creators on Tumblr. Hopefully, by using this tag we’ll help the entire community of Tumblr photographers get noticed — and maybe one day we will see that tag on the Tumblr Explore page too.
Reblog this post and spread the word.
